In an issue that seems to be becoming more and more of an issue, we discuss the problem of 'Ticks' on the golf course. This is must read for all caddies and golfers alike!

We need to stay safe out there! Different regions are more prone to ticks than others and if you work outdoors in one of these places you need to know how to defend yourself. Ticks favor long grass as their best way to latch onto a passing animal. Sometimes that animal is you, when you come into contact with ticks and their nests there are things you can do to protect yourself.

-PREPARE- tuck your pant cuffs into your socks. ticks like to climb upwards to find a warm and cozy place to start eating. Your first line of defense is your pant cuffs. tucking them in can insure that any little bugger that grabs on will be forced to climb up the outside of your pants.

-WEAR LIGHT COLORS- ticks can be as small as the head of a pin. light colored clothing can help you see them before they find a spot to dig in.

-CHECK/RECHECK- after you walk through any area prone to ticks you should check your pant legs. when your day is done and you return home, a whole body check should be part of your routine. Ticks that carry Lyme disease can transmit to your blood within 24 hours
